Safety regulations for grinding products

General rules

TRANSPORT AND STOCKING

  • Careful treatment of grinding material
  • Avoid any mechanical damage by throwing, bending or shock
  • Store grinding products in dry, frost-free rooms. Not in the vicinity of heating radiators, cold or wet walls, doors or windows and not directly on the floor
  • Avoid direct sunlight on grinding products
  • Keep grinding products until use as much as possible in the original packing. When taken out of the original package, store grinding products in a way that deformation is impossible

PERSONAL PROTECTION

  • For protection you must always wear eye protection (safety glasses), ear protection, safety gloves, dust mask, face shield, leader apron and safety shoes. The above is true when using any of our products.

REMAINING SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS

  • Observe safety instructions of grinding machine manufacturer
  • Never remove or modify safety panels or safety guards
  • Do not grind in the vicinity of inflammable materials or in explosive endangered environments
  • Try to aim the stream of sparks to the floor and never in the direction of face or body
  • In case explosive dust or health damaging vapors can occur, try to use air cleaning machinery
  • Follow directions, limitations or special remarks of grinding machine manufacturer carefully, for instance "use contact wheel”, "not for wet grinding"
  • Fix the work piece carefully before grinding
  • Always check grinding wheels visually for defects before grinding
  • Never modify grinding machines
  • Switch the portable machines off and let them come to complete stanstill before putting machine down
  • Wet grinding only with special suitable machines
  • Never change the grinding product on a portable machine without switching the main power off

Complementary safety regulations

FLAP DISCS, CUTTING DISC, GRINDING DISC

  • Do not use discs when damaged or not delivered according to standard appearance
  • See to it that the disc is concentric and secure mounted on the machine
  • Never use discs with bore sizes that do not fit
  • Never exceed the maximum rotational speed (RPM) per minute. The RPM of the grinding machine must be the same as, or lower than the indicated max. RPM of the disc
  • The maximum rotational speed of the disc is limited to 80 m/sec. The maximum RPM for the specific size is printed on the disc label

GRINDING

  • Do not start grinding before the machine runs at max. RPM
  • Do not force the flapdisc with the side into the grinding zone or into sharp contours or welds, to avoid catching or jamming of the flaps
  • Avoid plunge grinding, cutting or wet grinding with flapdisc
  • Do not put machine down when the flapdisc is still rotating
